Where will your brand be in 2018?

Announcing the Westfield Coomera development

After decades of planning, the $470 million construction on Westfield Coomera has commenced with plans to launch late 2018.

The lifestyle destination will deliver everything needed for a modern life including a mix of favourite majors – Woolworths, Coles, Kmart, Target, Event Cinemas – and approximately 120 specialty stores. It will feature casual dining and entertainment offers, a curated selection of fashion and lifestyle stores, a market-style fresh food precinct, and welcoming spaces designed to bring the community together.

Coomera is set to redefine the retail and lifestyle experience on the Gold Coast. The Gold Coast has one of the fastest growing populations and is the sixth largest city in the country with more than $13 billion in major infrastructure projects planned or currently underway.

“Westfield Coomera will be a true community hub that has been curated to meet the needs of local customers whom we look forward to welcoming to the centre on its anticipated completion late next year.” said Scentre Group’s Chief Operating Officer Greg Miles.

Westfield’s BMW branded charging stations: Finalists in the Parking Industry Awards 2017

Earlier this year Scentre Group partnered with BMW in a three year sponsorship arrangement to bring Electric Vehicle Parking stations to 10 Westfield centres.

Recently it was announced that the project has been shortlisted as a finalist for the Parking Industry Awards 2017 in the category: Excellence in Technology & Innovation.

“The decision to install Electronic Vehicle Charging stations in our centres came from direct feedback from our customers as well as our relationship with BMW. As the sales of electric vehicles (EV) increases in Australia, Westfield Shopping Centres will be ready to service the increased demand. This initiative and the speed in which it was brought to market is a testament to the collaborative approach and relationship between Scentre Group, BMW and Chargepoint,” says Tim Roberts, General Manager, Common Mall, Scentre Group Leasing.

This year there was a record number of nominations for the Parking Industry Awards, a dedicated awards event that pays tribute to the exceptional standards of service and innovation, as well as celebrating the achievements of individuals, teams and organisations in parking.

The winners will be announced on Monday 18th September so watch this space!

Westfield Car Park Media Update

On the 20th August oOh! Media’s Australian car park signage contract with Westfield shopping centres will expire.

Scentre Group have made the decision not to renew this contract which further supports our strategy of in-house media ownership and operation of digital channels, namely SuperScreens & SmartScreens.

Around 700 panels will be removed with works expected to be completed by the end of September.

We will not directly replace car park signage and will continue to focus on bringing our customers, retailers and brands a de-cluttered environment in line with our continuous commitment to provide extraordinary retail environments and powerful and simple solutions.

Westfield Hornsby Beacon Trial

New beacon technology in Westfield centres provides an exciting opportunity for brands to engage directly with shoppers who ‘opt in’ through their phones providing them with targeted, location-based discounts & offers.

This beacon infrastructure was recently piloted over a number of weeks at Westfield Hornsby in partnership with CBA and their newly launched ‘Offers App’, an extension of their current mobile wallet offering.

The investment in innovative technologies by Westfield aims to provide shoppers with a fully integrated and seamless retail experience that brands can leverage to build engagement and loyalty.

New Zealand Launches The SmartScreen Network

The SmartScreen Network has arrived in New Zealand with 175 screens across five powerful Westfield shopping centres.

  • Newmarket
  • Albany
  • Manukau
  • St Lukes
  • Riccarton.

Critically, these screens form part of the connected digital network of over 1,500 SmartScreens and SuperScreens positioned to influence every shopper journey across 47 shopping centres in Australia and New Zealand.
